Mudhif making process - Saudi pavilion at the venice biennale ‘25

Mudhif Making Process explores the traditional construction techniques of the Mudhif, the reed architecture of Iraq’s southern marshlands. Rooted in years of research and collaboration with Indigenous communities and master builders, the work documents the making process, material knowledge, and craftsmanship passed down through generations.

As the first published written documentation of the Mudhif construction process, the contribution reflects on architecture as a vessel for memory, identity, and collective knowledge.

The work was featured in Connections as Method, a publication developed as part of the Saudi National Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025.
