An Absent Mudhif explores the architectural heritage of the Marsh Arabs in southern Iraq, reflecting on the relationship between material, memory, and cultural identity. Constructed from locally sourced reeds and mud, the installation draws from traditional building practices passed down through generations.
Through its materiality and form, the work becomes a quiet reflection on absence, resilience, and the enduring spirit of a disappearing landscape.
The installation was presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025, as part of the Qatar Pavilion.
